Introduction

History of our company

Join-stock company Odetka was established after the decline of gold and silver mining in the region Jeseník in the year 1800. It was founded as the first mass haberdashery and textile production by Silesian enterprisers Weiss and Rossler. The first business success it achieved with Grohmann family management, which belonged to the most important Silesian business families in the 19th and early 20th centuries. At that time the company had its branches in Vienna, Temesvar, Budapest and in some other places in Silesia. In these regions it was a leader of the indrustrial expansion, electrification, life modernisation and a representative of a social programm.

After the World War II the company was nationalised and incorporated (as a factory Vrbno) into the future national enterprise Závody S.K.Neumanna with its head office in Krnov. During the existence of the national enterprise, later the state-owned enterprise, was the production specialised. Elastic webbings and knitwear were made mainly in Krnov, while fixed webbings in Vrbno. During the privatisation, the state-owned enterprise was divided into two indipendent joint-stock companies Pega and Odetka with a different production programms.

After the privatisation of the state property, the join-stock company Odetka was an owner of some investment groups, later there was made a majority interest owned by one of them and finally 1997 the real privatisation was realised - the majority interest was sold to private persons, textile and haberdashery enterprisers.

After the recession in 1995 - 1997, turnrounds on the market and in the economics and after the company changed hands, it was restructuralized. The strategic concept for its renovation and take-off of development was finally carried out. Consequently 1998 the profit was made again as well as the productivity was increased. In 1999 the profit was on the increas and the company improved its position on the market. In spite of small fluctuations this trend goes currently on and the economic situation of the company appears to be stabilised.

Our company at the present time

Now at the beginning of a century, our join-stock company ranks among the middle-sized industrial companies and among very succesfull companies in the region. After some organisational and personal changes the management was stabized, we have modernized our control and information system and adopted an inovative company philosophy. The company is very positively evaluated by finance houses (banks, leasing companies, finance analysts) and its potential is accented.

At the present time the company is focused on the production of:

• clothing cords
• technical cords
• paragliding cords
• surgical braided sutures
• nets and nettings
• stitching threads
• many various other knitted and woven products

Other services of the company

• dyeing and bleaching of textile materials both raw materials (yarns) and products (knitwear)
• some protective treatments like water-resistance etc.
• finishing or yarns and products

Withal the company develops activities in other branches of trade and products like the traditional flax processing and flax products, as well as in new branches like tourism, construction activities, biotechnology, waste disposal, adults education etc. Thanks to the good economic situation and the active and ambitious management the company could join to the development programm of the micro-region Vrbno and Jeseníky. To the aims of the programm belongs attractivity of the region for its inhabitans and tourists.
